Blissfield bridge still closed

MDOT has advised the bridge in Blissfield will be closed until at least Saturday,
12-3-11. The water level needs to recede enough for inspectors to properly inspect the structure. They will make that decision on Saturday. If the level is not appropriate, Monday would be the next probable day.

MDOT has closed US-223 at the east and west end of the village of Blissfield because water is across the roadway at the Raisin River. MDOT has set up a detour at US-223 and US-23 to route truck traffic north on US-23 to M-50. They have also set up a detour at US-223 and M-52 to route truck traffic north on M-52 to M-50.

Local traffic should seek alternate routes around the village until further notice. Many local roads are also flooded. Motorists should travel with caution and not take a chance driving through water across roads. Water can often times be deeper than it appears.
