Beck said, but vowed, “It’s time that we stand for the truth. We will be silent no more. It’s not violent, it’s not racism, it’s not sedition.”
Beck obviously doesn’t know the definitions of “violent”, “racism”, or “sedition”. All three are rampant in this country and he’s a large part of the viciousness that’s exhibited every day in the news.
As for Rick Perry’s comment that Obama is God’s punishment on us today? I think it most appropriate that Perry should finally get his wish that Texas secede from the Union.
I notice on the Jasper Bible Church marquee, this statement, “PRAY FOR AMERICA”. Of course, we all know that this is a euphemism for “Obama is God’s punishment on us today”. Kind of a circular firing squad, is it not? The narrowness of our petitions to God is sad but understandable–considering the context in which a congregation prays. We forget that the Omniscient, Omnipresent, Omnipotent God isn’t just a God of America who can be manipulated and molded to our desires.
I think it is quite a leap from “Pray for America” to “Obama is punishment” unless you have attended services regularly to know that that is the case. I have not. Apologies may be in order. America is much more than the President.
I agree with your last sentence wholeheartedly.
