I heard an interview this morning with one of the organizers of a Tea Party rally in Boston. She was complaining about high taxes. When the reviewer asked about Obama’s tax cut through payroll deductions, she replied that she didn’t believe it really happened. Apparently it wasn’t that she hadn’t heard about one of the biggest tax cuts in U.S. history; she just didn’t believe it. Perhaps she doesn’t receive a paycheck. Proof comes quite easily.
George Bush cuts taxes for the wealthiest Americans and the masses cheer. Obama cuts taxes for the masses and they complain. I’ll bet Contrarian has an explanation for this dilemma so I’ll let him take over.

Contrarian is a him? Really?
I guess I haven’t heard about it either. Perhaps you’re referring to refundable credits? A family member earned $9000 last year, paid income tax of $300 and received a refund of over $2000. Is that what you are referring to?
PS- I always new you wrote a certain number of posts aimed at me to elicit a response.
No offense taken. Isn’t that what these blogs are for?
PSS- Arsie, just because you put up a picture doesn’t prove to me that you are a man. David doesn’t always know what he thinks he does.
No, this is separate from the tax credits. It was part of the stimulus package and took effect more than a year ago. Some say it’s the biggest tax cut in history; others say otherwise. From a February 2009 USA Today story:
“He said the Treasury Department has begun directing employers to reduce the amount of taxes withheld from people’s paychecks in accordance with the new law, and that in six weeks, a typical family will start taking home at least $65 more every month.”
About writing posts to egg you on…actually it’s just the opposite. Sometimes I think about posting an idea and cancel because I know it will get just get you going. And since you write anonymously, you can say anything with no repercussions other than someone else making a comment.
I know arsie personally and I can vouch that he’s a wimpy little man.
I still wonder if you aren’t alking about refundable tax credits. My understanding is the bottom rate was lowered to account for the maing work pay refundable tax credit listed here.

If you know Arsie better than you do me than I will graciously concede he is a man.
If “Contrarian” is a he, then that helps in deducing a roster of possibilities.
And while I’m at it, I’m thinking about changing my username. Let’s see now; what should it be?
I just hope someone else has not been using your name all this time.
