Do you think much about the role of the Earth’s rotation on the position and depth of the oceans? Of course not. The thought never entered your mind. Here’s what would happen, according to computer modeling:

If the earth stood still, the oceans would gradually migrate toward the poles and cause land in the equatorial region to emerge. This would eventually result in a huge equatorial megacontinent and two large polar oceans.

The authors of this report emphasize that it’s not a prediction, it’s just a demonstration of GIS mapping techniques.
