This is one of two current ACTIVE volcanoes in Indonesia. I was about 50 miles from this one, Anak Krakatau (baby Krakatau) last year when baby was still napping. It is the other active volcano in Indonesia, Merapi, which is near communities and causing deaths and evacuations. Fortunately, no one lives on the island of Krakatua. Those nighttime videos of Anak Krakatua’s eruptions were amazing!
