It’s old news that Yellowstone will blow up someday in a massive volanic eruption, right? You knew that. Geologists studying the area are quaking with excitement:
Over 250 earthquakes have occurred in the park over the last few days, most between 0.5-3.1 on the Richter Scale – and getting larger each day. The swarm is centered 10 miles northwest of Old Faithful, Wyoming and 9 miles southeast of West Yellowstone.
That’s Erik Klemetti reporting at Eruptions. Don’t get too excited, he says. This set of swarms seems to be due to rock movement, not to volcanism.
