Morenci has a ways to go to become the bike sharing capital of the world. Currently, Hangzhou, China, is known as the leader with 51,500 bikes available for use by the public. That means there’s a bicycle for every 136 people. Morenci needs 17 public bikes to take over world leadership. Mine is parked in front of the Observer now and is available until about 5:30 p.m., so that’s a start. But just try to ride my old bike.
I’m interested in the hideous but very practical devices the Chinese bikes are fitted with to avoid getting splashed by road water.
Fenders?
Yes, they’re fenders, but I don’t think I’ve seen any quite like that.
