Growing fresh air

Tree Hugger listed its top 10 most popular items from the year, which included this one about the best to plants to grow for purifying the air. This is based on studies by NASA. • Drone war: Ever see a photo of one of the unmanned drones that are being used in Afghanistan? Look here. The program has mixed results: Several dead terrorists; dozens hundreds of dead civilians. Some people claim the mixed results make it not worth the effort; just another terrorist recruiting tool from angry survivors.

The use of drones has exploded, so to speak, with Obama in office. Jane Mayer wrote an excellent article about the issue in the New Yorker a few weeks back. There’s also a shorter interview with Mayer here.

Drone War – Interesting article, perspective and thought provoking. Hard for me to grasp one assertion that it is somehow wrong to attack a target if there is no physical danger to the team pulling the trigger. Whether it is right to hit the target at all is the issue, not the amount of risk to US personnel.

I have family in the military and would be glad if there was no danger for them.
