Fayette council: S. Fayette St. construction 6.20

First comes the tearing up.

Before Fayette residents are able to enjoy the new and wider surface of South Fayette Street, there’s a lot of destruction ahead.

Work crews are scheduled to begin grinding down the existing curbs Monday as the first step in the paving project.

Village administrator Tom Spiess learned Friday of the project’s start date in Fayette, and he also received assurance that every effort will be made to wrap things up before the Bullthistle Festival in early August.

Although the project will begin Monday, residents shouldn’t expect to see continual work here, Spiess was told. There are several on-going projects in the county and construction crews will move  around to different locations throughout the summer.
