Morenci school board 5.16 |

No Morenci substitute teachers will be spared in the district’s
recent decision to join a consortium of county schools in making
private their employment.
Board members voted in March to join other county districts in signing
a contract with Professional Education Strategies Group (PESG) to move
substitute teachers into the private sector.
A condition of the agreement allowed districts to exclude certain
teachers from the measure, but the Morenci Board of Education voted 3-1
Monday against any exceptions.
The board unanimously approved a
pair of new retirement incentive packages—one to be offered to teachers
and one to administrators. Staff members eligible for the packages will
be notified soon, said Griffith.
