Settlement reached in Fayette school contamination suit 3.21

In a settlement reached last week, the Gorham Fayette Local School District will receive $3.9 million from DH Holdings Corp. and Hutchinson FTS, Inc. About $1 million of that sum will cover legal fees.

As its part of the bargain, the school district has agreed to demolish Gorham Fayette High School, including the new gymnasium and classrooms, after classes are moved to the new school building. Afterward, DH Holdings will be granted a one-year purchase option for the school property.

Attorneys from DH Holdings requested inclusion of the purchase option clause in the settlement so the company can continue efforts to clean the contamination under and around the school, said school superintendent David Hankins.
