Dorothy Mae Cooper, 73, of Horton Rd., Morenci, Mich., died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, at home.

She was born June 24, 1933, in Lenawee County to Jasper and Flora (Pollard) Covell. She married Wallace Cooper on July 18, 1968, in Brunswick, Ga., and he survives.

Dorothy was a home maker and managed the family farm. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, secretary for Love INC in Lenawee County and was known for her community service leadership for more than 12 years.

Besides her husband, Wallace, of Morenci, Dorothy is survived by one brother, Curtis Wayne Covell of Morenci; one niece, Arlene (and Mark) Hughes of Niles; one nephew, Myron Hornyak of Lefors, Texas; three great nieces, Diana (and John) Purucker, April Hughes and Joni Hughes, all of Niles; one great-great nephew, Brandon Hughes of Niles, and one cousin, Pauline Hoff, of California. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Ruth Hornyak.

Funeral services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci with Pastor Charles Davisson officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci.

Visitation is planned from noon until service time Friday.
