The deadline to register to vote in Morenci’s May 7 school election is coming next week.

Residents of the school district must register by Monday, April 7.

Registration can be completed at Morenci city hall, township offices and at the Secretary of State office in Adrian.

This year’s ballot will feature two incumbent board of education members attempting to retain their seats and also two financial issues.

The board is seeking the annual renewal of the 18-mill levy on non-homestead property (businesses and second homes). In addition, the board is asking voters to approve a bond issue that would keep the current millage for the middle school construction project at the same rate for the next five years.
