The news media tells the American public to buy America’s products. What a joke. I bought a new Chrysler Voyager LX van Feb. 1, 2003. At a little over 70,000 miles the brake system fell apart and it’s all rusted up.

My trouble started with the emergency brake. I use my emergency brake all the time when I park the vehicle. Within two weeks the brake system started seizing up under the vehicle and it had to be replaced and everything was rusting up.

I went to the Chrysler dealer where I bought the car. I told the service advisor the problem I had with the brake system. I told him at about 70,000 miles the whole system fell apart because of rusted cheap parts. He said I was lucky to get that many miles. I had to replace most parts under the van.

I told him I bought a new Chrysler Caravan in 1992. I got 100,000 miles on the brakes and then had to replace only the brake pads and shoes. He said I will never get that again. I asked him where Chrysler got their parts for the brake system now. He said China. Buy American. Impossible.

I get a kick out of people in readers’ forum letters in newspapers who say if you don’t buy Ford, GMC or Chrysler products you are not buying American. How little these people know. China, for one nation, has swamped us with repair parts and they are not good quality. Buyers, beware.
