Correspondence: Signs of spring 3.5

Hear the difference in the morning?

It’s the sound of the birds in your yard. They’ve changed their tune—a sure sign of spring.

One reader reported the sighting of black birds at his feeder last week and he later saw a flock of them—grackles, perhaps?—in a nearby field.

He also saw some maple trees that have been tapped in the Toledo area. Add to that reports of robins and you know that winter is on the wane—despite the fresh coating of snow Wednesday morning.

Speaking of signs of spring, don’t forget to “spring ahead” this weekend. Move your clocks one hour ahead before you go to sleep Saturday night and you’ll be up to date with Daylight Saving Time Sunday morning.
