She was born Feb. 5, 1925, in Adrian, the daughter of Norman and Uva (Ash) Myers. She married Virgil J. Johnston on July 8, 1946, in Monroeville, Ind., and he preceded her in death, Sept. 7, 1986.

Barbara was a homemaker who lived all her life in the Morenci area. She graduated from Sand Creek High School in 1943. She attended the Morenci United Methodist Church and was a life member of the Morenci Eagles.

Barbara is survived by three sons, Norm (and Angie) Johnston of Surfside, S.C., Jim (and Diane) Johnston of Macomb, Mich., and Larry (and Debbie) Johnston of Wauseon, Ohio; six grandchildren, Brandon (and Cindy) Johnston, Jeremy Johnston, Chris (and JoDee) Johnston, Lindsay (and Steve) Klein, Jenny (and Charlie) Bryan, and Justine Johnston, Jessica and Christine Schuette; three great-grandchildren, Cooper and Sutton Johnston and Cooper Bryan; and a sister, Betty Ayers of Adrian.

Besides her husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Danny Patterson.

Funeral services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci with Rev. Rich Burstall officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci.

Visitation is planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Morenci American Legion to support a representative for Boys’ or Girls’ State.
