Flower scents and pollution

A University of Virginia study discusses the scents produced by flowers and how they’re altered by pollutants in the air:

So instead of wafting for long distances with the wind, the flowery scents are chemically altered. Essentially, the flowers no longer smell like flowers.

    I’ve got some “pure” fresh flower scent in my office. They arrived last Friday, and contained within this space, they’re still smelling like they’ve just bloomed. (Or perhaps they are being scent-contaminated by my cup of coffee…computer ions…university b.s.
