I don’t spend much time on the city’s land on the west side of Bean Creek (north of Wakefield Park) but this morning I was looking around for a good geocaching spot. First I encountered a juvenile raccoon low in a tree. We looked at one another for a while. Next came a wood chuck and, again, we looked at one another a while.
Finally, a very small fawn came out of the woods about 20 feet away. We looked and I talked to it a while. Finally, it started walking toward me. When it got about 10 feet away I convinced it that it didn’t want to come any closer to a human. The mother must have been going nuts, although I never saw her.
And I did create a new geocache. It’s one of my two best ones.
